Subject Appointment of the new Vice-Chair of Korea Accounting Standards Board

In the general meeting of member organizations held on 26 February 2019, the Korea Accounting Institute (KAI, Chair: Eui-Hyung Kim) appointed Se-hwan Park, Senior Director of the Korea Accounting Standards Board (KASB), as the new Vice-Chair of the KASB for a three-year term from 1 March 2019 to 28 February 2022. The term of the outgoing Vice-Chair Sungsoo Kwon will expire on 28 February 2019.

Career and academic background of the new Vice-Chair is as follows:


Se-hwan Park

Senior Director and Research Fellow, KASB

Academic Achievement
Master’s degree in Finance, Seoul National University
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Seoul National University

Career in Accounting Profession
Director, Samil PricewaterhouseCoopers

Member of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants (KICPA)


About the KASB

The KASB is an independent private organization established on 1 September 1999 with the mission to set and revise accounting standards in Korea. The Board is committed to enhancing the quality of financial reporting by providing high quality accounting standards that are on a par with internationally accepted accounting standards. The KASB consists of 9 board members (2 of whom are full-time) who are professionals from the private sector.
