The Korea Accounting Institute (KAI) is an independent private organization responsible for establishing accounting standards and sustainability standards for both financial and non-financial reporting of entities.

Founded in September 1999, the KAI was entrusted with the mandate to set, revise, interpret and provide technical inquiry service in accordance with the Act of External Audit of Stock Companies since July 2000. The KAI is responsible for not only K-IFRSs that are used by all listed companies and financial institutions but also those used by unlisted companies, SMEs, and not-for-profit entities.
In alignment with the shifting global landscape, the KAI established the Korea Sustainability Standards Board (KSSB) in 2023. The KSSB closely collaborates with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), leading the way in charting a course for new standard-setting that ensures competitiveness and sustainability of Korean entities.

High quality accounting and sustainability standards are essential national infrastructures that enhance transparency of companies, boost industry competitiveness and drive sustainable economic development.

The KAI is committed to contributing to the public interest in Korea as a global leader in developing accounting and sustainability standards for a transparent and sustainable economy, maintaining continuous communication with entities, information users, and various other stakeholders.
The KAI always welcomes your feedback and deeply appreciates your participation and support.

Thank you.

Chair of the Korea Accounting Standards Board (KASB) and the Korea Sustainability Standards Board (KSSB)
